Key Features

More Control Under LoadThe DEWALT ANTI-ROTATION System is built to react when the wheel pinches, stalls, or binds up. That helps reduce reaction torque so the tool is easier to manage in real metal cutting work. Stops FastThe electronic brake stops the wheel in less than 1 second after you release the trigger. That cuts down wait time between cuts and helps you keep better control as the wheel winds down. Compact Cut-Off ReachThe DeWALT DCG430B ATOMIC 20V MAX 3 in. Cut-Off Tool is built for straight, clean cuts in tight or narrow spaces where larger grinders and corded setups get in the way. You get cordless mobility without dragging around hoses or a compressor.

Overview

The DeWALT DCG430B ATOMIC 20V MAX 3 in. Cut-Off Tool is a cordless metal cutting tool built for clean, controlled cuts in tight spaces. This is a cut-off tool designed for metalworking and tight-space cutting. Model Number: DCG430B. If you need pneumatic-style access without hoses, this is the kind of tool that makes sense on service work, fab tables, and punch-list jobs where mobility matters.

What makes this tool different is how much DEWALT packed into a compact platform. It is rated to deliver 78% more power than 0.5 HP rated pneumatic 3 in. cut-off tools, which matters when you are cutting steel and do not want to drag a compressor behind you. DEWALT specifically calls out cutting 1/2 in. rolled steel, so this is not just a light-duty trim tool pretending to be a real jobsite cutter.

Control is a big part of the story here. The DEWALT ANTI-ROTATION System is built to sense a pinch, stall, or bind-up event and quickly stop the wheel to reduce reaction torque. On a compact, one-handed style tool like this, that is a feature that actually matters. Pair that with an electronic brake that stops the wheel in less than 1 second, and you get a cut-off tool that feels designed around real jobsite handling instead of just raw speed.

DEWALT also did the practical stuff right. The rotating guard has 11 positions so you can set spark direction and coverage for different cuts, and the tool-free adjustment range of up to plus or minus 75 degrees helps when the workpiece or your body position is awkward. That is a real benefit if you are working inside engine bays, around installed pipe, or up against panels where a larger grinder body would force an uncomfortable angle.

For daily use, the layout is geared toward speed and familiarity. The spindle lock simplifies wheel changes without juggling multiple wrenches. The lock-off paddle switch with no lock-on keeps the control scheme similar to what many users expect from pneumatic tools. DEWALT also added a forward exhaust system to help direct air away from the user and help prevent overheating from the motor.

This bare tool runs on the DEWALT 20V MAX battery platform and is also TOOL CONNECT CHIP READY, so users already invested in DEWALT batteries can drop it into the same cordless system. The optional Tool Connect chip and software can add jobsite tracking and data capability, which is useful for fleet management or larger crews trying to keep tabs on small high-value tools.

Who should buy it? This cut-off tool makes the most sense for metalworking, mechanical trades, electrical contractors, HVAC installers, plumbers, maintenance techs, and remodelers who need a small cordless cutter that can get into places a full-size grinder cannot. It is also a smart choice for anyone replacing a pneumatic 3 in. cut-off tool and wanting similar maneuverability without the hose.

Compact Size, Real Cutting Capability

This compact cut-off tool is built for the spots where a larger grinder is overkill or just plain awkward. It gives you the reach and mobility to make straight, clean cuts without dealing with cords, hoses, or compressor setup.
